EIZO-Theater Workshop with Shimpei Yamada
This workshop will provide space for participants to experiment with video projection as a starting point to understanding and utilising EIZO-Theatre. Following an introductory lecture by Shimpei Yamada, participants are invited to work with projections to create effective and affective theatrical situations.
EIZO-Theater is a new type of theater that Toshiki Okada has begun to develop in recent years together with projection designer Shimpei Yamada. It is an attempt to transform display space into theatrical space by the effects that projected images have on human sensibility. In EIZO-Theater, Okada has discerned enormous possibilities for expanding the latent potential of the very medium of theater.
Recommended for participants who have interest in the media and who are interested in the relationship between the video and the stage, and between the video and the body. This workshop has a maximum capacity of 15.
Participants are encouraged, though it is not mandatory, to bring their laptop with video editing software. Click here to watch reference videos.
