CÉ LA VI, Singapore’s iconic club space pinnacling Marina Bay Sands sets the stage for Love Divine, a SIFA X performance spectacle plunging us into the creative recesses of Singapore’s Queen of Burlesque, SUKKI (formerly known as Sukki Singapora), Creative Director of Children of Venus a burlesque and vaudeville feast choreographed, curated and sprinkled with SUKKI’s divine touch, and the astonishing Daniel Kok and Luke George whose mind-blowing performance-installation Still Lives (Marina Bay) miraculously turns rope art into statements of care and social commentary.
Acclaimed singer Nathan Hartono and influential entrepreneur Grace Kee will star, on alternate days, in Still Lives (Marina Bay) by Daniel Kok and Luke George, a durational rope art performance at CÉ LA VI. With its impressive panoramic view atop the Marina Bay Sands, the venue is itself a testament to Singapore’s wealth and material success. Nathan and Grace are both high net worth individuals and social influencers, and they will perform as subjects who will be bound and eventually suspended against the backdrop of Singapore’s glittering cityscape, inspiring reflections on what and how we possess.
Seamlessly, the night sky heralds the Children of Venus curated and directed by the one and only SUKKI, who has lovingly brought forth her “children” including burlesque trio The Glamourettes, renowned drag artist Becca D’Bus, contemporary sensual performer Francesca Harriman, aerial artist Adelene Chua and the unstoppable burlesque performer, Lychee Bye. Exploding with sass, and taking us from fever-pitch to hypnotic sensuality and back again, Children of Venus spawns all that lies at the heart and mission of SUKKI’s creative passions – defiant solidarity, freedom of expression and feminist power that transcends, all crystalizing in her visionary evocation of Botticelli’s iconic birth of Venus.
